How Delete Old Versions Google Sheets (Limit Reached)?

Hi all. Finally fixed persistent issues, but apparently, out of abundance of caution saved way too many versions of my Tiller foundation template.

How delete old versions so can (if need be) save some new ones as I move forward? Can’t find on web!

I’d sure rather not create / change name of file, but guess I could.

If you open your Tiller Money console you will see a list of all of your linked spreadsheets at the top of the page. If you expand a spreadsheet section, you will see a list of linked accounts, as well as a link at the bottom to unlink the spreadsheet from the Tiller Money console.

You can also unlink a specific spreadsheet using the Tiller Money Feeds add-on sidebar.

There is no need to delete your unlinked spreadsheets if you want to keep them for archiving purposes as they will no longer contribute to the limit.

New news to just be aware of.

Starting June 1, 2021, any newly created Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drawings, Forms, and Jamboard files will also count toward the storage limits for users in your domain. Existing files within these products will not count toward storage, unless they’re modified on or after June 1, 2021.

Thanks, @susandennis, that would be a good reason in the future to delete new unlinked sheets that are no longer required.

Sorry all if I wasn’t so clear in my post / question, I was not referring to different named Tiller related worksheets, I was referring to a named “Version” which is part of the Google architecture that preserves (for ease of later restoration), a snapshot in time of a particular Worksheet. See on Google sheet menu, File|Version History. (This is a great way, of course, to quickly restore fully where you were before some major “work” on your particular worksheet.)

Apparently, there is a limit. My question How do I get rid of older-in-time “version” snapshots of my main file so I can add some more, lol? I ask, because I’ve reached an apparent limit of these for my worksheet. I certainly don’t wish to unlink it or delete it from Tiller.

This is a Google sheets issue really not a Tiller management issue. But couldn’t find an answer on the web this morning.

Can I do this and only do this with a new rename of the file/worksheet?

Ahh, I see. Thank you for the clarification, @Larry.

From what I can tell, the only way to remove the entire revision history would be to make a copy of the current document/version, remove the original, and rename the copy. Additionally, you would need to link the new copy to Tiller, and unlink the old copy if you are running up against the Tiller Money hard-limit There doesn’t appear to be a way to remove a subset of the entire version history.

Thanks so much, and probably will do all that!

Larry - I assume you are creating “named versions” in your version history. The only strict limit I saw related to google sheet versions refered to a limit of 15 named versions per sheet.
If you do reach this limit - you can go to one of your named versions and click on the “More actions” under the 3 dots and select “Remove name”. This frees up a slot. I tested this after I hit the limit and it works. Hope it works for you.
