Is there a way to track the remaining balance of a budget line, so we can know how much we are building up over several months if we continue to add that amount every month even if we don’t spend it? I know there are better words that could be used to ask this but it’s 5:00pm on a Friday…my brain’s DONE. :D. The Savings Tab isn’t intuitive to me and I haven’t found any guides to explain if this is what I’m looking for…
Yeah, I think the Savings Budget sheet may be what you’re looking for. It allows you to move unused budget into savings that carry over to subsequent months. I’m writing this on my phone from an airport lounge so hard to insert links, but there’s a good YouTube video that explains how the sheet works. There’s a bit of a learning curve, but once you get the hang of it, it gets smoother. It’s the sheet I use most (other than the Transactions sheet) within Tiller. Happy to help if I can answer any questions about it.
Thank you! If I can figure this out, it will help determine if Tiller will be a long term solution for me. I love what I’ve used for years in theory…but manually updating just doesn’t happen…so I’m searching for the “get-'er-done” solution. And I like what I’ve seen so far.
@jessicam24 - Just saw this. When you ask…
`Is there a way to track the remaining balance of a budget line`
I assume you want to see Income or Expense vs what you’ve budgeted for a specific time period.
FYI- I created a worksheet showing Income or Expenses vs Budget for whatever time period you want. Here is the description.
