Many times when I try to pull updated data in the morning using the Google extension, I see that several accounts don’t actually update during that time. I have to either go into the console and manually refresh each one, or wait until later in the day and try again and usually some or all of those other accounts refresh as well. Is there a limit imposed by the aggregators as to how many accounts can be pulled during a single update? Or a certain time interval that must pass until the Google extension will refresh an account? Just looking for specifics here on how this works so I can make this refreshing process more efficient because currently I’m spending too much time just trying to pull data from all my accounts in the morning (having to manually refresh those that don’t update at the same time, have to refresh multiple times, have to come back later in the day to use the extension to get some of the others to refresh). Also, it’s not a matter of the account connections having an error.
Hi @mu3484343 Matt,
Great question. Here is a good starting point for some of what you are asking about:
This was very helpful, I’m surprised I never came across this. Thanks!
So when I click that button in the Google extension, it’s just pulling whatever Tiller has in its database, it’s not actually forcing a refresh on the aggregator side?
I believe that is correct.
Yep, Refresh transfers data from Yodlee to Tiller. Fill transfers data from Tiller to your spreadsheet.
And the only way to do a manual refresh is through the console, is that right?
Yeah, just it’s manual refresh via the console. It used to be where overdue refreshes (3+ days) could be manually done via Tiller Money Feeds, but I’m not sure that’s an option with the current, modernized version. I tend to do all my account connection management via the console and always a separate browser tab open for that.
Appreciate it. Would love a “Refresh All” option on the Console, rather than just one for each connection. Is that something that’s been proposed or is that not a possibility?
It has, consider casting your vote

Already had Upvoted this before, just forgot. Thanks!
Tiller support has stated repeatedly that we will never get the Refresh All button back.
Also, it is not necessary to wait for “save” during the refresh process, Tiller will still get the balances and transactions. You can move on to another account while the current one is finishing.
To make sure I have the most recent data, I usually start at the Console, and will refresh any connection that the last refresh timestamp is before midnight of the current day. It’s not all my accounts every time, and it different accounts on different days, so the auto refresh is working most of the time. It’s usually 2-3 minutes of my time.
@martha.rudkin’s tip about not having to wait for each account to finish updating was life-changing for me when she posted it a few months ago. I have connections to nineteen different institutions, some of which require 2FA to refresh, and it still only takes me about seven minutes to zip through them every morning while I sip on my first cup of coffee. Belongs in the Tiller tip hall-of-fame.
Thanks for the info. I appreciate that tip about not having to wait. It is a little disappointing that this won’t be possible as both Mint and Personal Capital had/have this ability. I wonder why they can but Tiller can’t.
At least in the case of Mint, its aggregator is provided by Intuit, which also owns Mint. So, presumably they have a very close relationship that comes with certain privileges. Personal Capital is an interesting question because it also uses Yodlee.
Come to think of it PC may not allow Refresh all. I’m not by my desktop to check. Mint makes sense then.
I just learned to embrace the idea that daily updates are more than adequate and haven’t really touched the refresh button since.
