Receipt Scanning

Is there a way to scan receipts & somehow get them attached to the Tiller entry? I am currently not scanning the receipts, just individually comparing them to the entries Tiller downloads, but there are some that should perhaps be retained for tax or other purposes. Any ideas on how to accomplish this?

Hi @maciassk Sally,

There are a few discussions on this subject linked below which may give you some ideas:

There should be a way to do this with Google Sheets “smart chips”, but I haven’t been successful yet. I think this will be done with a sheet\range filled with image file addresses. A cell with a smart chip, when hovered over, would display the image in the referenced file.

Here’s an idea.
Scan the receipts to a folder on your computer, or better yet a folder on Google Drive or Dropbox.

Then you can can get the LINK (url) to that receipt pdf.
Add a column to your transactions sheet and you can copy the url to that column.
It can be a small column. You don’t need to see the whole url. Just enough to click on it and open the file as needed.

Yeah, I do this for receipts that I need to keep track of, but I just hyperlink the transaction description to the file in my Google Drive. No extra column needed, though I could see using that approach as well.

not sure how it would integrate into tiller, but paperless ngx is pretty sweet for organizing receipts. uses machine learning to auto tag.

Still have not resolved this but did find a program, Epsons Invoice/Receipt Manager, for my Epson Scanner which will scan receipts, export & save them in pdf, file, Quicken or several other formats, but how to get these in the Foundation budget? There is an unused column in my Foundation document where I have been manually inserting a “*” to indicate that I have the paper copy of the receipt but if there was an image available or a link to the image all those paper receipts could be recycled/shredded. But have no clue as to how to make that happen.
