I’ve been [mis]using tiller for more than a year. I would like to get my act together in 2025. I need to revise all of my categories for starters. Can I just erase all my existing categories and overwrite them? can I start a 2025 file with a completely reworked list of categories? Can I keep my 2024 sheet but not download new transactions to it? How to start the new 2025 sheet and include the only the December 2024 transactions. Unfortunately, I’m a neophyte with spreadsheets.
Welcome back,
- Yes you can erase all ofn your categories and start over, however you’d need to wipe all categorized transactions in your transaction sheet and then start from scratch. Thos generally isnt recommended but itnis possible.
- Yes you can absolutely start a new 2025 file and this would be recommended and start fresh with new categories and everything. This will download all current transactions and balance history on the Tiller dayabase into your sheet but you can delete all entries prior to 2025 and carry on.
- Yes you can and should keep a copy of the 2024 sheet for reference the easiest way to not download any new transactions to this sheet would be to unlink it from the Tiller console. This will free up one of the 5 slots for supported sheets from Tiller such as your new 2025 sheet.
- You’d start a new sheet from the Tiller console by clicking on the create a spreadsheet button at the top. Then select all of the accounts you’d like to link in the sidebar. This can also be achieved afyer sheet creation in the console by selecting the desired spreadsheet and toggling the accounts on/off. Now to only get Dec 2024 and forward in this sheet you’d once again just delete whatever history came into the sheet prior to Dec and it won’t download into that spreadsheet again.
Hope this helps.
