Description as autofill for list of merchants/payees? create drop down?

hello! I want to have a list of merchants/payees so I can do more data analysis by merchant. I was going to just edit the description to be the merchant, e.g. “Amazon” but want it to autocomplete to a list of merchants more quickly. Google Sheets will autocomplete for Amaz…eventually but isn’t great.

I thought of creating a separate Merchant/Payee list and making that column a drop down to more easily autocomplete but curious how others have solved this to not be so manual/tedious!

I have added a column in my transactions sheet called Merchants. It is populated by a v-lookup based on the criteria I have set up.

@Davide, you can also use AutoCat to help clean up descriptions by creating a Description Override Column.
