Separating transaction tab by year?

I’ve been a Tiller user for about a year now. I’m wondering if there is a way to split up my transaction tab on a yearly basis on the Foundation Template? For example, come Jan 1, 2025, can I just create a new tab and copy all my 2024 transaction data over without screwing up any formulas? Essentially, each year I’m trying to archive my previous year’s transactions so I don’t have one long laundry list of transactions.

I guess this would then affect my Yearly Budget tab in regards to the “year” drop down field. Is there a way, or best practice, that you all may have discovered to create new Foundation templates for each year? It would be nice to have my 2024 transactions and budget on a separate file from my upcoming 2025 data. If I create a duplicate file, and start a new foundation template on Jan 1, then my account data will pull back up to 3 months effectively ruining this idea.

Hopefully what I’m trying to achieve makes sense. Does anyone have experience using Tiller in this fashion, and if so any ways to make this method work? Thanks.

Tiller does a get ready for the new year webinar every year. Check out this resource:

You can easily do this but the old data (not on the “Transaction” sheet will not be referenced by any of the other templates. I try to keep two years on my current transaction sheet and move all older transactions every January to a sheet called “Older Transactions” just for safekeeping.

@patrick.olson86 Perhaps you can rename the 2024 Transactions sheet and then copy a new Transactions sheet from a fresh copy of the Tiller Foundation Template.

The resource shared by @Mark.S is also a great one for you to review.
