Tiller Money Feeds Google Sheets add-on recent updates

We pushed some changes to the Tiller Money Feeds add-on for Google Sheets today to release some new features, improve the UI, and address an issue.

Templates feature

First, we released a new “Templates” feature in Tiller Money Feeds to make it easier to install, restore, and upgrade Foundation Template sheets. These include Insights, Monthly Budget, Yearly Budget, Accounts, and Balances. It’s not uncommon to make an accidental edit to one of these dashboard sheets and need to restore a dashboard to its original working order. If we release updates to these sheets you’ll also be able to upgrade them without having to start over in a new spreadsheet. Learn more here.

Many of you may be familiar with this feature from the Tiller Community Solutions add-on. We have decided to move this feature into the Tiller Money Feeds add-on for Foundation Template sheets only at this time. This helps set the distinction between what Tiller’s support team can help with, and what’s supported in the Tiller Community, and allows you to repair these supported sheets without needing to install a separate add-on.

A fresh look

Next, we also refreshed the look of Tiller Money Feeds to be a little cleaner and simpler. No more icons and each item is a clickable button rather than needing to click the linked text specifically. The fill button will turn blue when there is new data available to fill, and the add-on will let you know how long ago the sheet was last filled.

Log out issues

Finally, we pushed some changes we hope will address frequent and unnecessary log outs. The add-on still requires you to launch the add-on once within a 14 day period or it logs out you, and the access token has a maximum life of 28 days, which means you should expect to have to log back in to Tiller via the add-on at least once every 28 days. This is a basic security best practice, and we are being extra cautious because this is sensitive data. However, some customers were reporting they were getting logged out sooner than that 14 day inactivity period even though they were definitely launching the add-on within that time window. We hope these changes will address that behavior.

We’re really excited about this update and hope you are too! Feel free to reply below to let us know what you think.

P.S. we’re still working on improving Microsoft Excel and hope to have exciting updates there soon too
