New Features! Bringing Community templates to Tiller

Originally published at: New Features! Bringing Community Templates To Tiller  - Tiller

We’re thrilled to announce some exciting changes to Tiller to make it easier and faster to try templates from the Tiller Community.

Starting today you’ll be able to access some of the most popular community templates right from the newly redesigned Tiller Money Feeds Templates feature in both Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel.

Browse for templates

You can browse for new templates or manage already-installed templates. You’ll be able to search for templates using keywords or choose from a few pre-made filters. Filters include choosing templates created by Tiller that are supported by our customer support team, templates you’ve already installed, templates that need updates, and templates we’ve flagged as “featured.”

The updated Templates feature in Tiller Money Feeds supports some of the most popular community templates for both Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel. Our goal is to make it easier to customize your spreadsheet for your needs. Enabling quicker access to community-built financial dashboards and templates supports that goal. Templates built by the Tiller Community will still be supported in the Tiller Community.

Community vs Tiller

Each template has a badge to help you easily differentiate which are Community-built vs Tiller-built, and the Learn more or Get Help links will take you to the appropriate place for help and support. Each community template also has a “Tiller Community” logo in the template itself to help guide you to the right support channel if you run into issues.

The Templates feature in Tiller Money Feeds also lets you manage already installed templates by restoring or updating them. The Restore feature helps you reset the template back to a working version if you accidentally make an edit that breaks something. Since you may have customized some data, the Restore workflow gives you the option to Archive the template before restoring. The Update option will appear if there is a more recent version than the one you’re using.

What’s next?

We’ll continue to transition more templates from the Community over time and move them out of Tiller Community Solutions, a separate add-on only available for Google Sheets that hosts community-built templates and workflows. Some solutions are easier to transition than others so we’re starting out with the simpler solutions. We also hope to invest in making it easier for builders to submit and update their solutions for inclusion in Tiller Money Feeds.

Let us know if you have feedback or questions with a reply below. We’d also love to know what templates do you want to see available in Tiller Money Feeds next, and what would make this feature easier to use?

A post was split to a new topic: No data showing on the Yearly Budget

So If use excel I will only see excel templates?

Hello,
Would love to install that monthly budget calendar you show featured in community solutions. Why am I only seeing it available in excel? When I bring up the sidebar to search for the template, and search on “monthly budget calendar” - the template does not show up for me…

Help please

That was the main reason for me to stop using the program. I looked for templates that met my need where I would edit and adjust them for me. Building from a stock spreadsheet was a PIA and too time consuming.

Thanks heather! FYI I just tried to install the monthly budget calendar (shown in your email) and got the following error:

Just attempted to install the “Category Tracker” template but keep receiving an error message indicating “The template insertion process failed because a template with ID 'categoryTracker” could not be found in the template library."

Wonderful options added! At first glance, I see a few that I might find beneficial. I’m anxious to study the category tracker in depth. I’m an envelope budgeter and formatted my own tracking spreadsheet prior to this. Hoping this new spreadsheet factors in budgeted amounts along with expenses to provide a month-to-month “category” balance.

That’s correct @tjones4852 - you’ll only see templates available for Excel in the Excel add-in.

Welcome @twedtfam  ! I’m seeing the Monthly Budget Calendar for Google Sheets here:

If you search “calendar” at the top it should populate in the results.

Welcome back @tsberry56  ! Hope you’ll give it another try.

@adamstelle @HH22 try completely quitting and restarting your browser. You’re likely seeing that error because the sidebar hasn’t fully updated to the latest version. Sometimes there can be a delay in the latest version getting to everyone’s browser (that’s a Google/internet issue) and quitting/restarting the browser should help.

Welcome @leslie.c.reynolds  I hope you find some of them useful. We don’t have a template available right now that supports envelope budgeting, but perhaps in the future.
