I’ve been trying to connect Tiller for days, and I’ve tried all of the things that Tiller’s bot says to do. I spoke for 40 minutes with Ally today, and they got to someone who says that Tiller and Ally don’t work together anymore. Between Ally and Tiller, I’ll have to choose Ally unless I can figure out a way for this to work. Anyone come up with a solution to this? And yes, I made sure I did all of the steps that the help bot told me to do. I’ve also waited for days to hear back from Tiller’s customer service, but I never got help.
I just synced mine, checking and savings, without issue. Ally is on the Institution Alerts sheet, so I guess your mileage may vary, but I don’t think the Ally rep was correct.
Yeah, I’ve been syncing my Ally accounts to Tiller on a daily basis, and it’s working fine. Fwiw, I’ve had some pretty terrible customer service from Ally over the last couple of months. Nothing related to Tiller, but unfortunately, there seems to have been a real degradation of what used to be an Ally strength. Nobody who you speak to seems actually to have accurate information or know how to do anything! Enough that I’m pretty actively thinking about leaving Ally.
Problem solved! I’m embarrassed to say that, though I was careful to copy and paste my Ally password into the Yodlee interface, I was apparently typing in the wrong username each time. (I inverted two numerals.) The problem is solved, and now I’m happily receiving data from all of the financial institutions we use.
The Ally guy did tell me that the Ally person who handles aggregators was throwing up his hands regarding complaints about Ally’s connection with Tiller. Maybe Yodlee could work on that, or maybe Tiller could use alternative connection services as some budgeting programs offer?
Or Ally could move to open banking standards, which would solve the whole problem and work with any and all aggregators. It’s really rich of the aggregators guy to “throw up his hands” when Ally has a solution it could implement right in front of them. I have some sympathy for small banks that might struggle to pay the upfront costs of transitioning their systems, but Ally is not a small bank. This reply from Ally actually makes me even more likely to leave them.
Glad you figured out why you couldn’t connect.
