Hi. I’m using the template to track spending by category. I don’t need to budget. I have a nearly complete 2024. I’d like to continue this process in 2025 then use the 12-Month spending selection in C6 of Spending Trends sheet to show avg monthly spending for most recent 12 months. How can I get Tiller to automatically summarize the most recent 12 months of 2024-2025 data? Do I need to add columns or some way to tell Tiller I want to retain 2024 spending and build as I go for 2025 spending?
It sounds like you want to capture the 2024 Spending Trends snapshot to reference for 2025.
Some thoughts I have are:
1. Print the Spending Trends sheet for the full 2024 year (hard-copy and/or PDF perhaps)
2. Duplicate the Spending Trends sheet and rename the new copy Spending Trends 2024
. Then, use the Custom
date to specify the full 2024 year.
3. Make a file copy of your entire spreadsheet for 2024. This is a common archive/backup practice.
Thanks for the thoughts Mark. Good idea. Worst case I can reference 2024 and do weighted average of 2024 and 2025 as the year progresses. I’ll fiddle with dates and see if, for example at end of March 2025 I can get the average monthly spend for last 9 months of 2024 to pair with the first 3 months of 2025 spending available. If not I can just use 9 months of the 2024 overall average monthly spend to pair with first 3 months of 2025.
