I have used the YTD budget sheet to review variances during the year and at the end of the year. Typically I used the Completed Months in the drop down menu. The screen shot shows that this is now invalid. I think this diminishes the value of the comparison.
Is there a fix or workaround?
Ron
On my copy the drop down arrow shows Through Current Month and Jan 2025 is filling as expected. I don’t see a Completed Months option.
Have you tried clicking on the arrow to see what options it is offering you?
Hi Martha,
Yes, I see the same thing but last year there were two options - Through Present Month and Completed Months. The latter is now deemed invalid (see screen shot).
I think it has something to do with the year-to-year cross-over and something to do with the hidden cell in J15. I was hoping someone had a workaround that would let me still do a 2024 YTD comparison.
Ron
I did a little bit of a work around on this sheet awhile ago. I use future dated transactions and wanted it to include all transactions for the current month, not just the 1st thru today.
I also added a Year element in B4 by copying the Yearly Insights sheet C3 to get the year dropdown. I then changed the J15 to be =B4.
I also changed O5 to =if(J15<year(today()), TEXT(eomonth(I17,0),“yyyy-mm-dd”), if($B$5=$N$20,TEXT(eomonth(TODAY(),0),“yyyy-mm-dd”),TEXT(EOMONTH(TODAY(),-1),“yyyy-mm-dd”))) so that I would get my future dated transactions.
Let me know if you need more help understanding this.
Hi Martha,
Thanks for your first suggestion - I can now do a 2024 Comparison.
I am not sure what the purpose of the second suggestion is, so I will wait until the end of Jan to see if the Completed Months option becomes available.
Thanks for your good help.

Ron,
You are welcome! Glad it worked for you.
If you look at hidden field N21, you will see that “Completed Months” is an option in any month except January. You could change that if you want to but January actuals will be blank in the current year until January is over if you select Completed Months in the dropdown box.
The second suggestion was just to have all current month transactions pulled into the YTD actuals. I always have some future dated transactions for recurring bills and I don’t want to wait until their actual date to see them in this report. Yes, it semi-violates the YTD name, but I kind of look at it as more truly reflective of where the current month/year are.
