Constantly logged out and disconnected

Seemingly once every 1-2 months one or both of these things happen:

  1. An institution requires re-authentication. So it’s dead in the water until I notice and resolve the situation.
  2. Transactions stop flowing to my google sheet. This has typically been caused by being logged out of the tiller extension.

Does this happen to others? Any real solutions?

This happens to me too. I have not discovered a solution yet. I think this would be a useful automated email from Tiller when this happens, as it would be a good prompt to go see what’s happening and reconnect things as needed. I think it’s not quite obvious enough when things get disconnected.

Hi @josh.m.sharpe there isn’t anything we can do to prevent the re-authentication for the institution. That’s a requirement from the bank that our data provider has to enforce and is a security measure.

Regarding the transactions no longer flowing:

The Tiller Money Feeds add-on requires that you sign in at least once every 90 days. A standard industry security best practice is to have an access token that expires periodically. Most services do this (e.g. paid Google accounts will sign you out after so many days and require you to sign back in). Auto Fill can’t run when you’re logged out.

Once you sign back in to the Tiller Money Feeds add-on (via the Google Sheets Extensions menu), your Auto Fill will resume the next day. You can read more about this in the guide below.

We do have an email that is sent if our system detects that the AutoFill was enabled that hasn’t run in about 7 days to remind you to go back in and sign in so it can resume.
