Monthly Budget Sheet Mistreating Misformatting Categories - What Did I Do?

Hi all, I created a Tiller account and sheet for my fiancé with her independent Google login. I used the new Google Sheet Template (with its covering ‘Spending Trends’ sheet).

For efficiency, I copied in (from MY existing Tiller account sheet) categories and accounts and then made some relatively minor changes to suit her circumstances more precisely. All transactions seem to fill and everything seems pretty fine EXCEPT

For some reason, HER Monthly Budget sheet is very messed up.
For example (see photo below of her sheet left | my sheet right).

  1. Hers highlights and does “% of budget” of several LIVING Expense Categories - rather than Groups. For example, Interest Expense is formatted with a prominent reverse fill, as though it were a Category Group (Income or Expense)
  2. Hers bolds two expense Parking & Tolls and Professional Fees and seeks to display a % of Budget for both. (It does not reflect an arbitrary $10.00 budget amount assigned in the Categories sheet either.) No “% of budget” calculation appears for the group “Living “ (an expense ‘group’)

I have carefully compared our Sheets. Her base Template Sheet did not contain the Insights Sheet, and I did later add that sheet. Could that explain anything? Also, I have shared access to her Google Sheet and occasionally work on it but only her computer has the Tiller extension etc. (Would that create a problem?)

But the Categories Group list of hers does NOT include any of the three weird items noted above. It has the same standard type items mine does which display properly.

I am not sophisticated in revealing the backend of these sheets’ operation.

  1. What has happened?
  2. How do I fix things? At this point she just has the 90 days of transactions; I want to fix things sooner than later! (Do I delete the Monthly Budget sheet and re-add it - or, what do you recommend? Thank you all for any insight troubleshooting suggestions!

If re-installing the Monthly Budget sheet doesn’t fix it, the Data Checker Tool might reveal something amiss

Mark.S or anyone. Sorry for this quite basic followup question but not sure how to reinstall monthly budget sheet. I reviewed this earlier post but it is several years old, and not sure of myself.

Thanks for any guidance!

Larry

No worries

This is because you have a custom/non-supported Type for one of your categories. The only supported category types are Income, Expense, or Transfer. Take a look at the Type column in your Categories sheet and clean that up and you should be all set.
