Tiller Splitter Not Working

Good morning. I have been using the Tiller Splitter to split my paycheck into the various categories. Today when I open the Tiller Splitter the pop-up menu appears but the screen is blank - no place to enter data. Always worked well in the past. Does anyone have a workaround? Thank you.

I noted the same issue this am… I uninstalled it and now cant even find the app to reinstall. …Not sure whats up.

The splitter is in the labs. Ad-ons>Tiller Money Labs>Tools.

I just ran it and it is working ok for me. Sorry you guys are having issues.

Do you see the Add-on called Tiller Money Labs?

If so, click on it and wait for it to load. Then click on Tools and you will see the Splitter at the top. You don’t need to install anything. Just use it from the Toolbox.

If you do not see the Tiller Money Labs in Add-on, then you do need to add it. Click on Add Add-on and then search for Tiller and select Tiller Money labs and follow the instructions above.

@barbara.lomeli I think you just need to refresh your browser window to get the “launch” option to show up.

Thank you!!! Using the Tiller Splitter via Tiller Money Labs tool worked. Did not even know I could access the splitter there. Resolved. Again many thanks.

I’m bummed about Tiller Splitter not working anymore as a dedicated Add-On. I liked that the old one was only 1 click away instead of several. I also liked that it gave me the remainder amount below so that I could do math within the split fields to save myself a step!

Plus the permissions you have to grant to Tiller Money Labs are significant if all you’re looking for is the splitter (full drive access).

I wonder why Tiller Splitter is no longer working as a dedicated Add-On. It was quicker with just one click. Glad there is a work around just curious why the change?

Great question! There are a couple different answers here.

The answer to why now is that we were planning to end-of-life it soon, and I accidentally broke it on a recent deployment of something unrelated. So we just decide to call that the end-of-life rather than trying to fix it. The product/support folks like to give way more warning; the rather sudden cut-off is my fault.

Regarding the question of why at all: broadly speaking, our product plan is being increasingly oriented toward a monolithic add-on structure. The motivation being, in theory, to put everything at the user’s fingertips “out-of-the-box.”

It’s a trade-off, though, as it has significant technological implications. For example - mentioned earlier - the scope of permissions for the add-on will be a superset of the permissions needed by all the included features, whether a given user wants to utilize that feature or not.

For a myriad of reasons I’m not personally a fan of the approach, but it does hopefully explain why the add-on was EOL’d.

Several good bits of info here for anyone curious about why the permissions are so broad for Tiller Money Labs.

 we are hoping to make this less clicks soon.

 the new one should also give you the remainder. Are you seeing it’s calculating differently than the old version @ryanstraits ?

Yes, I can’t bring up the old Splitter anymore to compare but I remember that I could add all my splits as positive numbers and then see what the remaining balance was and what I needed to adjust my original amount down to minus all the splits. It was just a handy quick way to do that math.

Ok, so I’ve messed with the new one a little bit and now I see how it does give the remainder in the split transactions. It’ll require a different workflow for me than the old one (backwards from it, actually), but I think I can make this work. Sorry for the unnecessary grief!
