Updates to Super Hero & Builder Rewards Programs - December 2023

Our Community Recognitions program has been important to creating shoutouts, recognitions and rewards for the Tiller Community’s most active members and builders.

As we near the end of 2023, we have been workshopping some changes designed to improve both the Superheroes and Builders programs for 2024.

Community Leaders … formerly “Super Heroes”

Superheroes— and many other users like you— make the Tiller experience easier, more responsive, and more successful with their generous help and guidance in this forum.

We are excited to announce a number of changes that will make the program easier to understand and more transparent.

We are moving away from the “Super Hero” paradigm, which is intrinsically connected to the forum’s trust level tooling, to a more flexible leaderboard format, aggregating points on a rolling quarterly basis based on activity that helps grow the community or helps other community members.

Starting in early January, we will offer quarterly awards to the top 20 community members on the new leaderboard. Within a calendar year, first-time “Community Leaders” will earn a free one-year Tiller subscription renewal. Subsequent quarterly awards for top-20 Community Leaders will be $50 gift cards as a token of our appreciation for your contributions to the Community. Top-20 leaders will also be added to our Beta group if they’re not already members.

Periodically, we will include Community Leaders in other benefits such as exclusive roundtables to connect live with the Tiller team and swag (mugs, sweatshirts, hats, etc).

Our most active community members play an outsize role in making the Tiller Community a welcoming place that is helpful and inspiring for Tiller customers on their journey to financial clarity. We are excited to continue to celebrate these Community Leaders who stand alongside us in living out the mission here at Tiller.

We last updated our Builder Rewards program a little over a year ago. Since then, this Community has built, documented, shared and supported 38 incredible templates and workflows available to everyone in our Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel Show & Tell categories.

The program’s goal is to encourage and recognize the generosity of community members who help us navigate our financial journeys.

You all have such important voices in this Community, so we are making an important shift within the builder-awards paradigm: we want your voices to choose the solutions that receive builder awards.

Starting today, we’re asking you all to explore the Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel Show & Tell categories and speak loudly with your votes to elevate the solutions you find most helpful.

At the end of each quarter (starting April 1, 2024), we will distribute awards to the top vote-earning templates on each platform that haven’t already received an award. We are upping our Builder Awards allocation for 2024.

To qualify for award consideration, Sheets and Excel Show & Tell contributions must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Address a common personal finance problem in a novel, broadly-useful, and intuitive way
  • Leverage and showcase the value of the Tiller service
  • Build atop Tiller-spreadsheet conventions (see the Sheets and Excel builders guides) and accommodate common user customizations.
  • Include clear, concise installation and usage documentation— video is a bonus!
  • Must not require scripts

We count all votes awarded within the past three years.

We are grateful and inspired by your creativity, know-how, and generosity.

 Let us know below if you have any questions… and, most importantly, remember to vote!

I dont think people have time to read stories, you guys need to be more simple and succinct. Maybe your stories are important to you as Tiller, but for us, we want and can handle only minimal data if anyone is like me and runs a business, gets. hundreds of emails, etc…

I guess I see where you are coming from in that you are running a business, but I think there are a lot of folks here that may be from the other end of the spectrum. I have been retired for 7+ years and I am very rusty with Excel (and was never good with long formulas) so having longer explanations/stories is a good fit for me. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for your feedback @billymitchellg the builder rewards and super heros programs are a big part of our community recognition and engagement strategy so a thorough write up was necessary for helping people interested in or who participate in those two programs understand the changes. They’re pretty significant changes.

A quick TL;DR for the general community re: builder rewards is if you like something in Show & Tell, vote for it, even if you’re not a builder. That helps builders get rewards. Re: super heros, check out the leaderboard to see how you rank and rank up by lending a helping had in the community.

Thanks for chiming in that these longer updates are helpful and for you @ra4gto

OK but I dont want to miss important emails like status updates etc. How can I filter to only those?

I’d recommend reaching out to our support team via the chat window in the lower right corner of the Console at https://my.tillerhq.com/

We can look into what emails you’re subscribed to and which to turn off.
